Due to a change in circumstances, my wife and I are selling our Sapphire (1983 Leisure 23SL, bilge keel, Isle of Bute), which we have owned since 2023. She is a straightforward, well looked-after example of a boat most people here already know well – solid coastal cruiser with a deep, secure cockpit, and a clean, sensible interior layout that make these boats so popular.
Rigging and sails:
- Mainsail and furling genoa.
- Running rigging renewed 2024.
- Standing rigging in good order with modern fittings.
- Lewmar single-speed winches.
- Silva 70P compass.
- NASA Clipper Duet (speed/depth/log).
- Raymarine ST1000+ tiller-pilot.
- 3 lifejackets.
- 3 fire extinguishers.
- A manual bilge pump.
- A horseshoe MOB buoy with self-igniting light.
- Flares & smoke signals.
- Softwood bungs.
- 2 anchors, 3 waterproof cockpit cushions.
- Full set of fenders and mooring lines with spares.
- 2 small solar panels.
- A large dinghy with paddles.
- Yamaha 8 hp petrol outboard.
Electrics are deliberately kept simple: 75 Ah leisure battery maintained by a solar panel. Fixed-mount VHF radio. LED interior lighting. 2 USB-C ports.
Known issues: navigation lights currently not working, depth gauge produces inaccurate reading, sails are serviceable but aged, and she will need antifouling before launch.
